Folkestone Road and Tower Hamlets

This map shows the Folkestone Road and Tower Hamlets area of Dover with the main routes marked in heavy print. This area lies to the North West of the Town Centre.

Folkestone Road is the main home of Dover's many Guest Houses and was previosuly the A20 route to Folkestone. Tower Hamlets is a Victorian district of Dover with many side roads. It is predominately residential. Astor Avenue contains two of the town's secondary school, Dover Grammar School for Boys and Astor School.

All roads are two-way with the exception of Priory Rd/High St/London Rd which are one way (North from York Street). In the High Street (not the town centre, despite its name) are most of the town's take-aways and Indian/Chinese restaurants, should you feel hungry.

Tip: Once in the High Street, take a right turn into either Ladywell or Bridge Street traffic lights and turn right at the next set of lights. This will bring you onto Maison Dieu Road and back to the sea-front (Townwall Street).
